Rave The Huffington Post Garwood knows just the right amount of sex, passion, drama and mystery to blend into every story ... In Wired it is the romance and sex. There is a tiny bit of suspense thrown in based on Allison’s family background, and a fellow student who wants to steal one of her best computer programs. This is minor stuff when compared to the devotion to detail allotted to the romance between Allison and Liam. And the romance is steamy enough to drive even her coolest readers crazy ... Wired is a steamy, sexy thriller that will have her adoring fans begging for more, more, more.
John Sandford
Rave The Huffington Post While Virgil is flailing around in the dark the readers of the story know who the murderer is from the start. The fun then becomes getting Virgil to know as much as the reader does … All of this action makes for an immensely readable and likable book. Virgil is the star of the show but Sandford also creates a motley crew to surround him. These include the suspects, the local townspeople and the local members of law enforcement. They all combine to bring heart and humor to the story, while also maintaining the fierceness of the crime which has been committed.

Positive The Huffington Post Best selling author Lisa Scottoline has all the makings of a 'perfect' story in her new book One Perfect Lie ... She does not have any 'filler' at all in her story. She gives us a nice peek into the lives of her characters but ends their stories because her basic plot ends ... Scottoline is the master of inventive plots and relatable characters. She has presented this to us over and over in her past books ...it is a good story and good writing when a reviewer wants more, not less.

Mixed The Huffington Post Shadow Man by Alan Drew is actually three stories in one book...about the hunt for a serial killer in Southern California...a sexual predator who preys upon young boys...Detective Ben Wade, a man trying to solve the murders and molestations in the first two stories. When you have each story fighting to be the center of attention in the book you get a dilution of each and every one ... Alan Drew attacks each of these situations with a clear eye and much enthusiasm. He really tries to make sure the reader gets the full effect of each of the stories ... As the pages of the book flip flop back and forth to these various plots, the reader’s attention is split and each different plot line is weakened ...ends up being a non-cohesive book which has moments of insight and impact, but also moments where the plot is too scattered to be enjoyed.

Some may say her descriptions are too graphic but I applaud her for making these scenes real. You can not be a passive observer and read this book. You are brought into all the full revelations ... There is so much passion, poignancy, humor and horror that the pages overflow. This is not a short novel but even with its length the reader finds it ends much too quickly. You have grown to know these people and you want to know more … Pretty Girls is one of the year’s most fascinating stories, told with the creatively inventive touch of a true master of suspense.

Pan The Huffington Post The day to day operation of this assignment makes up the plot of this story, and basically that is not enough to hold the readers’ interest ... Child has written a fairly blah book. The story doesn’t come alive on the pages and the cast of characters are of no consequence. Since it is all set twenty years ago the reader knows no major harm to the country is going to occur.

Rave The Huffington Post The Wrong Side of Goodbye is the twenty first Harry Bosch story and it is just as good or better than the first one was. Connelly’s talent is not showing its age ... There is also the double pleasure of having Harry’s half-brother Mickey Haller assist him with the legal side of the private case ... it is fresh and innovative from the first page till the last.

It is a story that shocks as well as shames the reader ... Darktown presents the story of this investigation and its outcome. In doing so it highlights the horrors of being a person of color in the 1940’s South ... He [Mullen] brings to the reader the stinging heat, the bitter smells, the glare of the sun and the grime of the red dirt that is natural to this section of the country ...a novel that holds up a mirror to the vestiges of discrimination that remain alive and well today.
John Grisham
Positive The Huffington Post [Rogue Lawyer] not your father’s John Grisham book. This one has saltier language, a brief hint of sexual activity, and a cast of characters who do not live by any accepted moral compass. But, this book also has a fascinating leading character, a great collection of dark entertaining chapters, and an overall theme that binds the book together. Rogue Lawyer may scare off some of Grisham’s old fans but it should also collect a few new ones for him ... Readers have to go into Rogue Lawyer with an open mind. Grisham has allowed himself to go off into new areas. It is a grittier story than usual but it is also a very satisfactory one.
