It takes a while for the novel, which is better marching down fairways than dealing with domestic life, to find its stroke. But once it does, it treats its readers well. An enjoyable modern fable for players and fans alike.
Feel-good ... Though filled with colorful characters and enough hilarious one-liners for a comedy roast, the narrative is overlong and overstuffed with golf lore, and the magical elements are underdeveloped. Still, this has a ton of heart. Golf enthusiasts ought to tee it up.
