PositiveBookreporterAuthor Jonathan Lee takes readers back in time and brings history to life. The story is told from multiple points of view, and he seamlessly weaves in bits from the past that help explain the present. My only issue is that Lee doesn’t use quotation marks or any other type of punctuation to indicate that someone is speaking, which makes the narrative somewhat difficult to follow at times. Nevertheless, descriptive text, well-rounded characters and an intriguing storyline make The Great Mistake well worth reading. I am tempted to go back and read Lee’s previous books: Who is Mr. Satoshi?, Joy and High Dive, the latter of which appeared on numerous best books of the year lists in 2016. His latest novel deserves to enjoy this level of success and hopefully will.
Allie Reynolds
PositiveBookreporter... ull of suspense and a multitude of plot twists. As the story unfolds, readers learn more about each character and their possible role in Saskia’s disappearance --- and how it all relates to this new drama. Shiver is a genuine page-turner that will keep you guessing until the very end.
Cory Doctorow
RaveBookreporter... a fascinating technothriller. I thought I knew a fair amount about technology and how it can be used (and is being used) in our everyday lives, but author Cory Doctorow opened my eyes to its endless possibilities. Although I did not grasp all of the technical terms and lingo that he uses throughout the text, I understood enough to follow along with the storyline. The subject matter is certainly a timely one as part of the story deals with the protests in Portland, although naturally they are somewhat fictionalized here.
Hank Green
RaveBookreporterHank Green’s writing is fast-paced and exciting, filled with drama as well as an abundance of technical information about AI ... Green excels at providing backstories for his characters, which newcomers will especially appreciate. However, it would be best for those who have not read An Absolutely Remarkable Thing to do so before delving into this one. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to figure out exactly how certain events that were unfolding here related to the original story. Still, A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor is a bold and sharp novel that will keep readers on their toes and fully engaged, eager to discover how it all ends and keeping their fingers crossed for a third installment in the not-too-distant future.
Kathleen Barber
PositiveBookreporterThis novel highlights the risks everyone faces when they become too involved in social media without taking the time to be cautious about what is shared online and how it is shared. Kathleen Barber’s fast-paced writing and short, action-filled chapters make Follow Me an easy and enjoyable read. The story is told from multiple points of view, which gives readers additional insight into the minds of the main characters.
Matthew Quirk
PositiveBookreporterThis storyline is timely as one of the main characters is about to announce his run for the presidency. Author Matthew Quirk offers a fascinating glimpse into what life can be like behind the scenes of a major political campaign. He writes with a style that grabs your attention, keeping you in the moment and on the edge, wondering what will happen next. And just when you think you’ve figured it all out, he throws in another plot twist to keep things interesting.
Mike Chen
PositiveBookreporterChen gives readers a chilling look at what a global pandemic could do to our society and crafts an intriguing story of how such a scenario could play out.
Robin Cook
PositiveBookreporterAlthough [Cook\'s] writing style is often stilted, he has penned a good story here, with plenty of mystery, intrigue and subplots to complement the main plot, as well as numerous fleshed-out characters to carry out the action in this timely medical thriller.
Joyce Carol Oates
MixedBookreporterJoyce Carol Oates writes in a fast-paced style, taking readers quickly through scenes that change from speaker to speaker and time frame to time frame. As a result, it is difficult at times to keep up with the storyline. Still, The Pursuit is an intriguing novel that is definitely worth reading, especially if you are a fan of this legendary, award-winning author.
Erica Ferencik
PositiveBookReporterAuthor Erica Ferencik brings readers a love story that is anything but ordinary. The main characters are literally worlds apart, and a danger-filled jungle is not your usual backdrop for romance. This is also a story of survival, not only for Lily, Omar and the villagers, but also for their way of life as it is threatened constantly from poachers killing off wild game and cutting down the jungles ... Ferencik’s writing style is fast-paced and suspenseful, making readers impatient to turn the page and find out what happens next. She herself spent some time in the Peruvian jungle where she did research for this book, and these experiences lend great authenticity to her narrative.
David Moody
MixedBook Reporter\"David Moody’s story is a good one, as there is plenty of action and conflict. But this is a sequel to One of Us Will Be Dead By Morning, which I did not read. So I kept wondering when the author was going to provide some kind of backstory for newcomers about what caused the conflict in the first place and why some people ended up as Haters and others were Unchanged. What exactly happened? When and how did it happen? Those questions were never answered, which I found to be a bit frustrating as I wanted to know what was going on ... has an unexpected ending that I enjoyed. If you’re looking for a novel that provides lots of food for thought, I highly recommend this one. However, it would serve you well to read the prequel first so you can fully understand and appreciate all that happens in this second Final War installment.\
Tami Hoag
PositiveBookreporterThe Boy is well written, with great characters (some you will love, others you will hate), wonderful dialogue and plenty of plot twists. Author Tami Hoag has penned an intriguing tale of murder and mystery, tossing in enough red herrings to throw even veteran sleuths off the trail. You probably will be surprised by the ending as I was ... a harrowing thriller that will keep you guessing right up until the final pages.

M. R. Carey
PositiveBookreporterSomeone Like Me is certainly an interesting read, with many plot twists and turns, but it wasn’t what I expected after looking at the publisher’s brief blurb. The novel goes beyond that of someone with a multiple personality disorder, taking it to a whole new level. If you like science fiction mixed with drama and suspense, I am betting you will enjoy this story immensely. Although I wasn’t too satisfied with the conclusion, which I thought left some loose ends hanging, overall the novel is a winner and kept me intrigued right up until the final pages.
