Rave Criminal Element ... two seemingly unrelated narratives come together in a beautifully organic way ... Maggie is a very interesting character who I liked immediately ... Sam is both simple and complex, which makes him incredibly intriguing. I was fully invested in his story and wanted so much for him to overcome his PTSD (for more reasons than just his own health!) ... A hallmark of a great writer is to make us invested in their characters, and I was fully invested. Deep into the Dark is a meaty, character-driven crime thriller with a fully fleshed out cast of characters and vivid descriptions of the seedy L.A. underworld seamlessly woven into the narrative without slowing the pace ... If you have never read P.J. Tracy before, this is a terrific book to start with. If you love the Monkeewrench novels, you’ll love Deep into the Dark which has all suspense and dark twists you’ve come to expect.

Rave Criminal Element Filled with explosive action, suspense, and powerful human drama ... I was hooked from page one ... fun, violent, fast-paced, and original. The comment, \'I couldn’t put the book down,\' is somewhat trite because everyone says that about a good thriller. Except, I literally could not put the book down until I read every page ... You feel immersed in the story because of deep POV while also feeling like you’re watching an intense high-action movie, right up there with the Bourne Identity or the best Mission Impossible. While most action thrillers have men driving the story, we have a family—mother, son, daughter—and it works amazingly well. So well that I can’t wait for the sequel.

Rave Criminal Element ...goes near the top of my favorites in the series ... I was completely invested in the police investigation, the characters—both new and familiar—and figuring out the crime along with Lieutenant Eve Dallas. And near the middle, just when I thought Robb was going to take an easy out, she did something I didn’t expect, which had me smiling as I finished the second half of the book in one sitting ... Dark in Death has everything I want in a J. D. Robb thriller.

Every book is as smooth as good whiskey, well-crafted, intriguing, and downright fun. Secrets is no exception ... While on the one hand, Secrets is a twisty, smart police procedural, we also are treated to in-depth characters that truly elevate the entire series ... The mark of a true storyteller is to transport the reader to another place and time, and J. D. Robb does it once again.

Rave Criminal Element What I liked best was that Nora didn’t spend too much time setting the world up. The virus is released in Chapter One—along with a deep sense of foreboding. We meet most of the main characters by the end of the first part of the book—roughly page 75—and sense a bit of what they are up against. This is our world, so there wasn’t a need to set the stage, so-to-speak—we are immediately immersed in the story. Though a trilogy, there’s enough of a resolution to be satisfying while leaving plenty of story to tell ... While there is a large cast of characters, Nora skillfully focuses on three or four groups of people who are the 'core' of the story. Whenever she introduces someone knew, it relates with one of our core groups so we don’t feel too lost in what is, truly, a big world. I have my favorite, and I can’t wait to find out what happens to him in the next book!
