This book is exactly what anyone could want in a wonderfully written mystery about two women who meet and become interwoven into one another lives in more ways than one ... This book will bring you to tears and make you happy at the same time. I absolutely could not put this one down and did not expect the ending whatsoever. A fantastic read for lovers of mystery, suspense, love, and hope.
Paper Chains, despite its subject matter, is a well told tale ... As you read the novel, you...take pleasure in guessing how the author is tying all the pieces together, perhaps too neatly. The characters and their stories are treated with a Hollywood romantic drama and glow ... Despite the seriousness of much of the content that the book hints at, this is a quick read for the last days of summer. Well known medical conditions, both psychological and physical, are treated in a cursory fashion, and do not do much more than develop the plot. There are some compelling moments in the novel though and vivid imagery. It is a page turner. Moriarty knows her audience, and her audience knows her.
While the end ties up a little too neatly as the result of lucky happenstance, Moriarty keeps the pages turning with her depiction of two women who need a friend to let their secrets free. Readers who enjoy unpredictability alongside happy endings will approve.
...[a] heart-tugging story ... It’s difficult to decide which of the two vibrantly described personalities is more impulsive or more secretive. Dynamic prose makes the pages turn and then subsequently fly by when twists arise. Moriarty’s novel is both fast-paced and immersive.
