Smart and entertaining ... I wanted to give the adorably needy Winkler the kind of slow-burn hug that would both congratulate and pacify him ... Winkler’s story is also aided by the fact that his deepest work as an actor...came directly after the therapy sessions that helped Winkler with his intimacy issues. As my former boss might have written, VTEBNLPBI (very tidy ending, but no less powerful because of it).
Breezy, inspirational ... The memoir is enlivened by an unusual move: Winkler includes long reaction passages from his wife, Stacey, who is pretty brutal about Winkler’s immaturity, his parenting, his own parents and a crippling fear of poverty ... Fun moments throughout.
Warm-hearted ... Well-crafted ... This charming autobiography of personal struggles during times of career success and challenge deserves a big thumbs-up.
