Transcription never stops asking whether technology corrodes authentic experience. But this ultimately leaves us with a different question: whether it can also carry what we most want to pass on ... Lerner seems to suggest something similar: that each act of transmission is also an act of creation — and that each generation may have the chance to be better than the one that came before.
