In this sequel to bestselling author Henry Porter's Firefly, former MI6 agent Paul Samson is dispatched to rescue a Greek aid worker who is being held hostage by a Mafia group with terrorist ties.
White Hot Silence was a pleasant surprise ... In this book, the adventure took me from Calabria across the Mediterranean to Estonia and, finally, to Russia. Even though I suffered jet lag and sea sickness, Henry Porter’s international espionage yarn was worth it ... The author does an excellent job with his characters ... But what really makes the novel work is the author’s excellent pacing. I never felt bogged down by descriptions of remote places, and the combination of plot-expanding dialogue and necessary action made this a compelling read.
...a sequel to last year’s ripped-from-the-headlines Firefly, which centered on the Syrian refugee crisis ... This frighteningly realistic political thriller will draw readers comfortable with the darker side of the genre.
Porter handles every aspect of the complicated plot, including the labyrinthine financial and political developments and the romantic triangle involving Anastasia, Denis, and Paul, with keen intelligence and compassion. Thriller readers looking for plenty of action, excellent writing, and credible, convincing characters will be rewarded.
