Thrives in exposing the moral uncertainty of this new world order ... Ackerman means to say that blithely accepting an easily heroic action-movie story would be the greater cynicism. And he leaves plenty of room for a sequel.
Lively ... Ackerman shepherds his cast through a brisk and occasionally implausible plot. Though his tone is light, he regularly reminds the reader of the lifelong shadow war casts on the men who fight.
