Juggling the case, her aging mother, her teenage daughter, and the loneliness of country life, Detective Alexandra Cupidi must discover who killed a local woman, who she really was, and how she managed to reconnect with her long lost son, apparently from beyond the grave.
Salt Lane is an excellent start to a new series... While I enjoyed the novel, I have to confess to be a little jaded by police procedurals and preferring something a little more to the noir end of crime fiction. That said, this is an enjoyable novel and I will certainly read the next volume in the series when it hits the bookshelves.
Shaw writes an intricate crime novel with very strong characters and a deep storyline ... Salt Lane is a very powerful crime novel and if you have not yet discovered the writing of William Shaw then now is your time ... A cracking read.
