Stretching from the Golden Triangle of Southeast Asia to the Golden Gate of San Francisco, Every Man a Menace is a thriller about the making, moving, and selling of ecstasy.
Cool and laconic, echoing vintage Elmore Leonard, the early scenes in Patrick Hoffman’s new novel, Every Man a Menace, radiate tension ... Hoffman is an infernally clever writer...Yet Hoffman’s puzzles are more human than mechanical. His characters are too complex and his scenes too immediate and engrossing to be diminished by intrigue.
...Criminal fools populate the drug-selling networks from San Francisco to Bangkok to Miami in Patrick Hoffman’s astonishing, violent novel ... filled with sharply drawn characters ... A mind-bending, attention-demanding narrative as full of shocks and surprises as an LSD party.”
The action teems with characters and ranges geographically from San Francisco to Miami to Bangkok and back to the Bay area. People get murdered along the way, double crosses are common and trust among colleagues is a sometimes thing. Patrick Hoffman writes vivid and colourful prose, in a style that has Hollywood movie written all over it. The movie will probably be more focused than the book, but Every Man A Menace makes for an exciting read while we wait breathlessly for the film.
