In Citizen K-9, bestselling author David Rosenfelt blends mystery with dogs and humor to create an investigative team that readers will be rooting for book after book.
David Rosenfelt's latest book should come with a warning: Reading it most likely will cause you to have a new, can't-miss series on your hands...Rosenfelt often includes truly depraved villains in his books, and this novel is no exception...Although he doesn't reveal all the clues until the very end, there are definite hints along the way regarding the nature of the crimes here. Citizen K-9 is a hit in terms of being a twisty mystery with subtle humor throughout, featuring characters whom we grow to admire...And, of course, there are the dogs.
If you are looking for a strong K-9 presence in David Rosenfelt's newest novel, Citizen K-9, you won't find it here...That being said, it's a good mystery with several interesting plot twists...Simon Garfunkel, the German shepherd K-9, is retired from the Paterson, NJ, police force with his handler, Corey Douglas...Rosenfelt brings Simon into several scenes where he is noted for recognizing situations that elude the human investigators, but to say this is a K-9 mystery would be a stretch...Should this series continue, one can only hope that Simon will play a greater role in the investigations, the crimes, and the resolutions...All in all, a good mystery but not a K-9 story.
Former police officer Corey Douglas, the narrator of Edgar finalist Rosenfelt's winning third K Team novel, tackles a cold case involving two of his high school classmates who disappeared seven years earlier during their 15th reunion...The no-nonsense Corey has a dry sense of humor, and the interplay between him and his colleagues complements a twisty plot whose threads tie together in an exciting finale...Corey’s perspective on Andy Carpenter, who plays a minor role, will please fans of the author’s series featuring that attorney sleuth...Rosenfelt consistently entertains.
