Readers will be hard-pressed to find a book as teeming with interpersonal toxicity as is You Were Made for This. Fans of unlikeable characters will find Sacks’ story addictive and propulsive; readers who can’t stomach them are better served looking elsewhere. This will be a tough pill to swallow for some, and a totally engrossing page-turner for others...
Haunting ... Though Sacks doesn’t give readers anyone to root for, her unblinking look at beautiful people with ugly secrets has the voyeuristic fascination of a Bergman film.
Michelle Sacks delivers a chilling, disturbing thriller with [You Were Mde for This] ... If the goal of a psychological suspense novel is shock and awe, Ms. Sacks certainly achieves her objective... However, the fact that the characters are so deeply embedded in their depravity gives the novel an otherworldly feel that almost deprives it of some of its power. Less would have been more in this case. A bit of good mixed in with the bad would have lent some much-needed light to the darkness. That said, this is a powerful debut for those who have the courage to take it on.
