Once again she tackles the ins and outs, highs and lows of marriage --- and what happens when a new wife comes along to replace the old ... As Tish and Kate butt heads during one of the most precarious times in EventCo’s history, each wife, along with Ashlyn, must fight to figure out what John really wanted for his company’s future --- and how far the other woman in his life would go to twist the truth ... Rouda thrives on domestic suspense. She is a keen analyst of the nuances of marriage, motherhood and blended families, and she is able to deftly twist each of these layered, complicated issues into something utterly shocking ... Rouda shows us what it looks like when a power-hungry woman starts to crack, and the result is utterly riveting ... Rouda is more than capable of fleshing out her supporting characters, so this was a bit of a disappointment. I also would have liked to have seen more of Kate’s life as a mother through Ashlyn’s eyes. But worry not, there’s plenty to explore in the characters of Tish and Kate.
This gripping psychological thriller from Rouda offers a refreshing setup: a man tries to rekindle his relationship with his ex-wife after marrying a younger woman ... Rouda keeps the reader guessing as the plot takes plenty of twists and turns. Suspense fans will get their money’s worth.
Rouda hits the ground running and never stops in this cage battle, fueled by resentment and rage, between a wealthy CEO’s first and second wives ... The clash of these titans, whose superpowers would make them right at home in the comic-book universe if they’d just turn in their designer outfits for masks and capes, is so much fun that you’ll be sorry to see it end with a final pair of zingers. The guiltiest of guilty pleasures.
