The worldbuilding alone is brilliant. Add to that the character development and the relationship between Ceris and Ristriel and you have a beautiful story. But beyond the beautiful story…where does one find a Ristriel in real life? Inquiring minds want to know. If you love fantasy or fantasy with a side of romance, you definitely need to check out Star Mother. It’s so well-written and I cannot wait for Star Father, the sequel, to come out next year.
Suspension of disbelief is required ... The romance is sweet and tender, which is everything one might hope for. Is the ending tied up a bit too neatly? For those who like 'happily ever after,' it will be perfect.
In this stunning example of amazing worldbuilding, Holmberg...features incredible creatures, a love story, and twists no one could see coming ... This beautiful novel will be enjoyed by fantasy and romance readers alike, but might find its most suitable home on the SF/Fantasy shelf.
Holmberg’s worldbuilding is unique but rushed, encompassing gods, galaxies, love affairs, and epic warfare in a short span of pages. At its core, however, the novel offers an enticing exploration of the human desire to belong and be loved within a lifetime, however long that may be. Readers will find entertainment and hope in this sweeping, mythic tale.
