Every time I read a James Patterson novel, I get goose bumps. Reading Haunted was no exception. The Bennetts have become family to me and their everyday drama never gets old ... James Patterson uses this novel as a medium to relay a strong message about drugs and how they ruin people’s lives. I really enjoyed Haunted more as a standalone novel. Not much happened to add to the series. I was hoping his relationship status would finally change, but nothing yet. The pages truly did turn themselves!
Born's considerable chops and skill set --- not to mention his own past employment in law enforcement --- bring new life to the series ... The book concludes on an unexpectedly upbeat note, which undoubtedly will play out over future installments of the series. It also compares and contrasts urban New York with rural Maine, even as the story’s parallel plot lines never quite intersect but are nonetheless related in a most unfortunate way. The end result, however, is that I will be there as a reader, regardless of where Patterson and Born take this intriguing series.
Another thrilling Michael Bennett novel. I love catching up with him once a year it’s like visiting old friends. The book is so easy to read and the characters are well written. Even if you’ve never written one of the stories before it’s not a problem, as enough back story is given that you know what is going on ... This is an exciting thriller. It’s one of those books you can’t put down until the very end wanting to see how it will turn out. And it feels like something that could truly happen at some point in our lives. We already see how the government and businesses already seem to know most everything we do. This magnifies it by 100 percent and it’s scary to think about.
