... extremely creepy ... I loved how Barclay developed all the characters so well and did not rush the storyline. The story was intricate yet realistic, and I was left guessing until the very end. It’s an absolute must-read book for fans of Harlen Coben.
Near the start of Mr. Barclay’s whirligig of a novel, the unmarried Miles is hit with life-changing information: He has a debilitating hereditary disease that will leave him physically helpless before killing him ... Mr. Barclay is known for keeping readers on the edge of their seats. In Find You First, he surpasses his own past successes with a multi-strand plot that bounces, in short, cliff-hanging chapters, from Springfield, Mass., to Fort Wayne, Ind., to Paris, France. As Miles travels far and wide, he begins to surmise that his fortune, and the question of who will inherit it, may be imperiling the lives of his offspring.
An incredible thrill ride with non-stop action. It is full of smart and funny dialogue, plus Barclay is a master of ending chapters with a cliffhanger, so there is simply no putting this book down once you get started ... Barclay has filled this thriller with well-drawn, memorable characters, fast paced action and unpredictable twists. There is a reason he has such a loyal fan base!
Linwood Barclay’s skill at finding the dark sides of family motives takes another leap forward with his 20th novel ... Barclay melds a solid, winning plot with in-depth character studies, including his supporting characters. Miles’ first response to his diagnosis is reckless behavior — drinking too much, driving too fast (so what if the speeding tickets pile up?) and skydiving. While his decision to help his offspring is commendable, he still can’t see how ignoring those people who have always been in his life affects them ... gains its suspense from its character’s motives, not gratuitous action. Another winner from Barclay.
Linwood Barclay is a whiz at the set ups to his stories, and this time out he’s in particularly devilish form ... Barclay begins to slide complications into the plot which grows ever deeper, more fearsome and endlessly delicious.
At the start of this suspenseful, expertly paced thriller from bestseller Barclay (Elevator Pitch), two people identifying themselves as police bang on the door of 21-year-old Todd Cox, who runs phone scams targeting the elderly out of his trailer home near Springfield, Mass ... Barclay makes even secondary characters feel real. Fans of Daniel Palmer will be pleased.
