Brynn is an absolutely fabulous heroine: strong and independent but with a heart of gold. I loved her sense of humor and her witty yet silly way of saying things, but most of all, I loved how she viewed life. The author gives her unique perspectives on things and I got a kick out of looking at the world from her point of view ... I also loved how the author kept all the characters we’ve loved throughout the series engaged in the story without them being obvious cameos. As friends of both characters, they’re an integral, natural part of the narrative ... Blitzed is a fantastic, lighthearted love story that is sure to please Ms. Martin’s many fans and make her some new ones. I strongly recommend it to contemporary romance fans, especially those who like their romances funny, sexy and sweet.
Martin continues her Playbook series...and scores again with this perfectly blended sporty-spicy/rom-com cocktail that’s so good, you could name a drink after it ... Martin provides a behind-the-scenes look at life with a professional athlete: fancy clothes, parties, the private suite at the stadium, and TV cameras...
... an electrifying cocktail of girl power, adorable romance, and enough drama to rival a reality show ... Martin tosses out the playbook to the friends-to-lovers trope here by putting just as much narrative weight on Brynn and Maxwell's friendship as she does their romance ... The conflicts in the novel would have benefited from more of a walk-through and explanation. For one, Maxwell's creepy older brother shows up to stir the pot about his past, but he immediately fades into the background, and it's unclear why he and Maxwell are estranged until the end ... At times, Blitzed feels more like a 'womance' than a romance, but given how masculine sports culture can be, it's fun to see the WAGS leading the charge without the cliched cattiness ... glitters with as much charm and fun as the bedazzled jerseys the WAGS wear to the games, and despite the title, it'll leave readers feeling warm and tipsy.
As the real-life wife of a former NFL player, Martin brings insight and experience to a fun, enjoyable series about the fictional Denver Mustangs. Reader, she knows her football! Martin captures the reality of the sexy, exciting and volatile culture of professional sports ...
The lighthearted third sports romance in Martin’s Playbook series...focuses as much on strong female friendship as it does on love ... I would’ve enjoyed a more open glimpse into Max as he worked through his issues. He’s a fun character and I rooted for him from the start. But despite all of his great qualities, he kept a very big piece of his past a secret. When it comes to light in the worst of ways, Brynn has no depth of information from which to help draw her conclusion ... tread lightly with this book if you have triggers. But if you can look forward to truth prevailing and characters who eventually find their way to better communication with one another, Blitzedis worth it.
