RaveNew York Journal of BooksGrand Union contains a number of smart, witty, insightful and cultured short stories by UK-based author Zadie Smith. Perhaps half or more are based in America, in particular New York City. the remainder were written for a UK audience and use slang and brand names that may be unfamiliar to an American audience. Many of the stories are fragments, and as fragments are mostly character sketches. Many of the stories also feel as if they are experiments, while others have potential for becoming a chapter within a larger work.
