RaveLitReactor...when White Tears ended, I wasn't ready. I wanted more time with it. The path it took wound and meandered through different times, voices, and places; by the end, I was devastated to see it go ... This is a story to savor, though. The language, the music, the twists and turns: they're all lovely, despite speaking of events so ugly one should want, so very much, to turn away. Take your time when reading White Tears. Think about actions and consequences, and journeys with no destinations. Think about the way people treat each other, with carelessness and venom. These days, in these troubled times, it's good to think about carelessness and venom, and the way they can lead to truly tragic endings.
Emma Cline
PositiveLitReactorThe Girls is a fun, sad, quirky, insightful read. Since finishing it, I've seen it popping up on several summer reading lists on several literary sites, and I'm not at all surprised. It's a really solid book ... I thought The Girls rang with truths. I thought Emma Cline's writing was sometimes sickeningly gorgeous, often insightful, and always impressive. It's a great summer read, so long as you have a strong stomach for gruesome murders.

MixedLitReactorThere's a lot of imagination in these here pages, and a lot of love and lust and math. So much math. Imaginary numbers, division by zero...some of it went way high over my head, but that's fine. I like a book that makes me think. That said, I don't think this is a book for everyone. This is, instead, a book for lovers of the insanely literary form, for people who love to dream. If this is you, give it a shot, and tell me: what do you think of the wild cast of characters, the vast timeline, and everything else going on in this super-rich Kingdom of Septimania?

RaveLitReactor\"My God, this book is beautiful. Lina Meruane writes with such care, such love, such painstaking choice of every word she uses.\
