PositiveIrish Independent (IRE)\"The characters are well-developed, especially the father, the change-averse Mikey, her straight-talking friend Peanut, and her first love, the wolfishly handsome Fionn. Family and relationship dynamics are also skilfully portrayed. The problem was that I didn’t warm to Jeanie herself, finding her at times quite negative, prickly and indecisive. However, the gradual unravelling of the story kept me engaged to the end.

Doireann Ní Ghríofa
RaveIrish Independent (IRE)Ní Ghríofa, a bilingual writer, brings all the linguistic clarity and precision of her poetry to this part-memoir, part-literary-mystery ... Equally interesting is the minute attention Ní Ghríofa pays to her own body, mapping the complications of pregnancy, a birth-tragedy narrowly averted, the whip-exhaustion of night feeds, the aversion to sex after giving birth, the glorious return of carnal desire. With luminous language and candid details, this book shimmers with honesty and scholarship. A truly original read.
