While their romance is a wonderful mix of the bitter and the sweet, The Last True Cowboy is also a journey of self-discovery, as both characters want to better themselves for the sake of a stronger relationship. Last True Cowboy focuses on the hero and heroine as individuals, and this brings a fantastic, deeper perspective to their second chance at a relationship ... For readers who love romances that pack an emotional punch, The Last True Cowboy delivers on all fronts. This is a romance with grit, heart and just the right amount of sizzle.
Overall I enjoyed the story, but I felt both Carly and Austin were a bit immature. Austin refuses to take Carly’s threats to leave him seriously, expecting her to continue to wait for him the way she had been doing her whole life ... So many of their problems could have been prevented if they only communicated better with one another. I would recommend this book for readers who enjoy books about cowboys or who enjoy small town romances. The storyline is engaging, and the characters–including the secondary characters–are interesting.
In Drake’s often heartbreaking western romance, a small town’s favorite high school sweethearts are forced to face growing up as individuals and finding out whether they are still meant to live their dream life together ... Drake... takes readers on a beautifully imperfect journey with two people who can no longer have their ideal future, but learn that the real one might be even better.
