Laurie Hertzel spent 15 years as the senior editor for books at the Minneapolis Star Tribune and now reviews for the Strib, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and elsewhere. She is the author of a memoir, News to Me: Adventures of an Accidental Journalist and is a past president of the National Book Critics Circle board. She teaches in the low-residency MFA in Narrative Nonfiction program at the University of Georgia
